How SaverLife Is Using Personalization to Improve Engagement
At SaverLife, we are always looking to improve our members’ saving rates and engagement with our platform. As part of that effort, we recently tested personalizing the content of our email newsletters to highlight topics members had already interacted with on our website. Our goals were to:
Increase engagement
Raise awareness of our resources
Make it easier for members to share SaverLife content and resources with friends and family
We utilized email for testing because emails are one of our most direct contact points with members. Each week, we pulled a list of members who had viewed a popular blog post. We emailed that audience a newsletter featuring three pieces of similar content. As part of this test, we streamlined the design, focusing on three relevant articles with easy-to-use social share buttons.
We anticipated that these personalized emails would lead to higher click-through rates, as well as increased engagement and overall time spent on the site.
Our theory proved correct. On average, these emails had a 30-40% higher open rate than our normal newsletters. The results show that personalized emails are an effective tool for boosting digital engagement.
Sample email content: Financial Emergencies
Results:
513 recipients
50.6% Open Rate
9.6% Click Rate
Feedback from recipients of the personalized emails indicates that the streamlined design was a hit with members.
“The new email format is very appealing and grabbed my interest quickly.”
“I love the new look of your emails”
"I really liked this email. Very personal and informative. Love it!!!!”
We're now in the process of replicating the success of this content personalization series and sharing similar content with a larger audience of our members.
