Vote Like Your Future Depends On It: A Letter From Leigh Phillips to SaverLife Members
I’m Leigh Phillips, the CEO of SaverLife. Nine years ago, I decided to lead this organization because I believe in economic equity, the power of savings, and the promise that wealth-building opportunities can benefit families and households for generations to come. I’ve seen firsthand from SaverLife members how our current system does not work for everyone.
That’s why I’m going to vote this year. The stakes are incredibly high, and I believe our country's future is in our hands. SaverLife will stand alongside you the entire way. We aim to make it as easy as possible for you to register, check your registration, and make your plan to vote.
Voting is important to me because it allows me to influence the policies and laws that affect the financial future of my family, my community, and our extended family of SaverLife members. And I’m not alone: during the last election cycle, 75% of members registered to vote and 8 out of 10 SaverLife members plan to vote in this midterm election.
Some may say that their votes won’t make a difference. But that is not true. Sometimes, elections are decided by a single vote. Others may feel fed up with ads for candidates attacking each other. And I agree: it’s disheartening.
I’m voting anyway. I know that my vote counts, and I choose to exercise that power.
Every state is different, so make sure you know who and what’s on your ballot this November.
Make sure your voice is heard. Remind your friends, family, and community to vote this November. Register and vote like your future depends on it.
