The Expanded Child and Dependent Child Care Credit

While a well-intentioned benefit, many families with lower incomes can't afford paid childcare.

This benefit is intended to help families cover the cost of paid childcare - families submit receipts and receive a refundable tax credit. The issue is that most families living with lower incomes, don’t rely on paid childcare as much as they rely on family members or friends to help, or other social capital.

Only 26% of members report frequently using paid childcare.
