Senior Writer, External Communications
Roz Elliott
Roz brings to SaverLife over a decade of experience as a professional writer, editor, in-house journalist and communications professional. She is inspired every day by the chance to tell the stories of SaverLife members, their courage, and their resilience as they strive to reach their goals.
After a childhood traveling overseas with her military family, Roz went on to earn a B.A. from Yale University in English and Theater. Roz’s roots are in the lower-middle class, which meant that her time at Yale also offered her some eye-opening lessons about socioeconomic difference and generational wealth. In her first career as a teacher, she mentored students from all walks of life both in traditional classrooms and in nonprofit programs such as Upward Bound.
Since her career pivot to professional writing, Roz has worked in communications, research, and strategy for nonprofits, universities, and government agencies. She deploys her creative writing background and her research training to tell transformative stories that move people to action. She has also published three historical novels with a major publisher and still writes fiction, drama, and poetry when she can find the time. Roz lives in North Carolina with her family, loves to hike in the woods, and roots for the Tar Heels with her daughter at UNC.
