SNAP Recipients of Color Continue to Spend More on Groceries
People of color who receive SNAP benefits spent, on average, 28% more per month on groceries (38% more in March and a whopping 65% more in June).
With families spending more time at home, and more kids home from school, thereby losing out on the benefit of school lunches, the Department of Agriculture’s benefit covered a smaller slice of the food spending pie forcing families to consistently take on more of the burden.
